Daemon would know and acknowledge the culture she comes from outside of it, just being a character trait she has. As you can imagine, a Dornish girl on a dragon dismantling his beliefs would fit beautifully in that narrative. In the show, Daemon comes across as a Valyrian supremacist obsessed with the history and advancement of the Valyrians and the Legacy of House Targaryen. I believe if the show wanted to make the interpretation simple for the viewers giving Nettles a Rhoynish heritage, it provides a distinction for viewers of the show and book fans who know the history of the Rhoynar and Valyrians.ĭaemon Targaryen: I think it would be more compelling for Nettles to be Rhoynish when it comes to her relationship with Daemon. The Velaryons are Black: This seems to be a big issue when it comes to the way people want to interpret Nettles' story in the show. Keep this in mind when the words Rhoynish or Dornish are mentioned. Simply, the culture and accent would be adopted. The race of Nettles would not be changed for this. Notably, there where also a small group who didn't join them when they reached in Dorne, they are called the Orphans of the Green Blood and are the last of the 'Rhoynar'.

Most famously, Nymeria, the queen, was the person who led them to Dorne, where they settled with the Lords who were already their and integrated their culture. Just for a bit of back story the Rhoynar are a group of people from Essos who fled due to the Valyrians before the doom. While I think this is the wrong sentiment, especially seeing as the Velaryons are Valyrian, I've come up with a solution to the media literacy issue that may come up.

With the anticipation for season 2 of House of the Dragon, a lot of the conversation has shifted to the fact that the inherit racism behind Rhaenyra's statements about Nettles would be lost because the Velaryons are black.
